How do we see an omnipresent, invisible danger? Much like a deep space telescope, Absent Hand uses inference to show something not directly observable.
These photos were made during the first few weeks of quarantine, when travel was restricted and businesses were shuttered. Whether seen more overtly in signs of warning or encouragement, or more subtly in an empty glove, I hope to evoke the feelings of precarious safety and insecure containment we experience as we shelter and protect each other during a pandemic.
